15 Months Old Today

Dear Miles,

You are 15 months old today and officially in my eyes a toddler. You are a growing person with a ton of energy and your own little personality. some of your latest endeavors include

Picking up new signs like "baby", "help", "fish" and "bath"
Your vocab includes the following
  • ball
  • please (sounds like bees and is too cute!) you say it when you really want something
  • up
  • help (kinda sounds like UP)
  • milk
  • apple
  • banana
  • moo
  • coco
  • cat
  • wa wa
  • duck
  • bubble
  • cheese
  • more
  • tattoo
  • dada
  • mama
  • baba
  • GO!
  • Nice
  • fish
  • shoes
  • Uh- Oh
  • De-Ti ( monkey)
  • back
  • book
  • No
  • Yes
You are eating everything in sight. YOu currently love graham crackers, peas, blueberries and strawberries. Bananas have taken a back seat.

Walking and almost full out running you are tackling everything. You can climb like a monkey. You actually climbed into the master bath the other day. You have given up the bottle. It has been a full week and it only took 4 days before you stopped crying every morning for it.

You splash like a crazy person in the tub and it makes you laugh so hard when you do. I am soaked from head to toe by the time you are done but I just can't stop you. You are having too much fun. What harm does a little water do?

You have been teething all month. 4 molars and now you are getting another bottom tooth. 12 teeth in total. I hope month 16 you get a little relief from it. It doesn't bother your sleeping very much thank goodness.

When we are out running around you love to use your words. At the grocery store you saw all teh beer kept repeating "baba, baba, baba" and when we went for a walk and were window shopping you pointed out all the shoes to me. Every dog is Coco. You have been trying to say Roscoe but to no avail. It is cute to see you try though.

You are putting some words together. "More cheese"  or "Milk Please"   it is so helpful to know what you want and to see your face light up when I understand you is priceless.

You kiss now. You don't do it on command :)  but you do it when you want to. The other day coco kissed me and then you kissed coco. She licked your face in return and you giggled.  I wished I could have captured that moment.

You like to take things out and put them back where you found them. You tell me as you do this "Duck, Back"   You like to read

I am no home full time and able to spend all the time in the world with you.  Get Ready!

Love you more Oodles than Noodles,
Mama

Example of how Signing has Helped

Tonight at dinner (yes I am talking about you eating again) we were having a grand time. I was sitting next to you talking about the day. I go to let the dogs out to go potty and when I return you look at me and say "elp" and make the sign for help. I look at you and you say it again. I couldn't figure out what you might need help with. All your food was in font of you. YOu start to get a bit distressed so I look down and your foot was stuck! Instead of you having to cry or get frustrated, you were able to tell me you needed help and we went about our dinner. You looked so happy that you were able to tell me what was going on.

Play by Play and Word of the Day "ME"

It seems as if I keep posting stuff about Miles eating. 2 Reasons why:

1. He now eats all day long
2. He doesn't sit still unless he is eating

so here is breakfast and word of the day "Me!"

Dinner

Peas, turkey, carrots and strawberries

And the peas are your favorite. Who would have guessed!

Someone is Thirsty!

This morning you showed us that you are able to climb up and into our master bath. Once you got up there you took the empty water bottle that was on the counter and pretended to drink from it. You also played with Roscoe's shampoo calling it "Milk" over and over. It is a creamy white color so I couldn't fault you for thinking it was your beloved Milk.

Down the Stairs

Miles you are now a speed demon on the stairs. You cruise up and down without a problem.

Caught you as you quickly made it down the stairs this morning

Some Videos

So I am going to work on catching up on the blog this week. Starting with some videos of my talkative boy.

Here he is talking about the animals in his favorite book from Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Chris

Here is a video where he is signing "Baby" to his favorite Signing Dvd. He loves the opening song and sings it all the time.

Signing Time intro song Miles LOVES... he swings his arms like crazy signing baby. I tried to capture it but this version wasn't as enthusiastic as most. Still stinkin' cute.

i heart faces - best face forward

Below is my submission to I Heart Faces this week.

They requested that this submission be a recent photo. Great because I am currently really working on building my portfolio and have been shooting a lot more than normal.

This photo was taken on January 9th. Working on my lighting and since this guy is only 9 months old he was the perfect subject because he can't run away from me like Miles. Thanks J!

Be sure to check out all the great entries over at iheartfaces.com

Move over Baba..

Move over Baba, Sippy cup is taking your place.  It might not seem like that big of a difference in this photo, but to Miles it is the world.  After Therese got you to drink your afternoon milk (i have to say that is one my favorite words you say! Next one to capture on video) I just decided that it is time to go cold turkey. This morning you weren't a fan. You cried and cried for baba but then went on playing. Walked up to your cup and knocked it over. "Uh oh" you said. You wiped up the spilled drop of milk and went on playing. A few minutes later you cried "Baba Baba"  We just went on with our morning.

Before we were even able to make it downstairs to have breakfast, you had snatched up the sippy cup and started swigging. You didn't drink the whole thing but I am okay with that.  I packed up all the bottles today and left out only the Sippys. I hope that you don't cry tonight before bed.   I can imagine this is what it would have been like if we took away your paci once you could vocally express your disdain.

So glad we did that before. The bottle is hard for you. We all have our vices. I am confident that in a few days you will be happy as a clam to get your morning milk in your sippy and we will move onto the next phase.
